About my blog

Hi. I’m Ken Holland.  This blog will be mainly about the eastern theater of the Civil War. Living in Maryland, I am centrally located from some of the major battles and campaigns of the war. I have studied mostly the Antietam and Gettysburg campaigns but also have an interest in Chancellorsville, Fredericksburg and The Wilderness, among others. I hope you enjoy my blog.

If you are looking for a great forum on The American Civil War just head to Civil War Talk and check it out. I’ve been active for about a year and a half and have learned so much more about the conflict and it’s personalities. I am currently the host of the Antietam forum on that site.

  1. Very nice website! I too am a devotee to the eastern theater of the American Civil War, particularly the Overland Campaign of 1864. My great-great grandfather was Adjutant of the 2nd Pennsylvania Provisional Heavy Artillery. As such, he participated in the monumental battles of the Wilderness, Spottsylvania Court House, Petersburg, North Anna River, and Cold Harbor. On July 30, 1864 he was one of 6 officers in the regiment to be captured at the Battle of the Crater. The 2nd. PA Provisional HA was the first regiment into the Crater after the mine explosion. His letters can be read on my WordPress website. I am also a follower and regular poster on Civil War Talk.
